This recipe might raise a few eyebrows but I received so many submissions for it that I just had to try it. Pêche et Thon, a dish straight from the heart of Belgium, surprisingly combines unexpected ingredients….peaches and tuna! I know, right? But don’t knock it till you try it!

Our destination? The French-speaking region of Belgium, where our guide, Andie, invites us to discover Pêche et Thon. This quirky concoction of peaches, tuna and a dollop of mayonnaise evokes fond memories of her childhood summers spent indulging in this unlikely delight. As a child, Andie spent summer days playing with friends, the highlight of which was undoubtedly the delicious treats whipped up by their mothers including this dish.

This recipe is as simple as it is intriguing. Begin by hard boiling an egg, then set it aside to cool. Remove the peaches from their can or jar, draining the syrup. Add drained tuna to a bowl and mash with a fork until it’s flaky. Add a good amount of may and crumble in the egg. Give it a good mix, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Place a spoonful of the tuna mixture onto each peach half and garnish with fresh chives or parsley and serve.

This unique blend of sweet and savory may seem unconventional at first, but trust me, one bite is all it takes to be won over by its unexpected charm. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Embrace the unfamiliar, savor the unexpected and who knows – you might just discover a new favorite along the way. After all, isn’t that what these food adventures are all about? Bon appétit!
