“[It] means ‘artichokes Roman-style’. My grandma used to make these. They are really easy to do, but at the same time, they are really, really tasty.” – Federica
“[It] means ‘mozzarella in a carriage’. This is a typical dish from the Neopolitan area and it consists of slices of mozzarella enclosed in two slices of bread that acts as a ‘carriage’.” – Nico
“I always found the name of this dish deeply poetic, and I love the mix of crunchy and soft texture.” – Vera
“[Caponata] is a mix of vegetables. Typically there are bell peppers, aubergines, zucchini, and potatoes.” – Eleonora
“Vinegar gives to the dish a very distinctive, although well-balanced, sweet and sour flavor which is typical of Sicily.” – Vera
“Make sure you get two pieces of bread and a slice of lemon; have it like a sandwich. This is one of the best combinations.” – Federica
“It’s super refreshing. I personally love it and it also convinced even my husband who’s a fennel-hater. It’s really, really good.” – Eleonora
“The wild boar gives this dish a very warm and cozy taste. Whenever I see it on a restaurant menu, I know that means the restaurant is good.” – Anna
While chicken parm may still be my last-day-on-earth meal, I’m so happy to have some surprising new dishes to add to my Italian delivery order rotation. Looking for more? My subscribers also recommended Focaccia Di Recco (thin-crust focaccia filled with stracchino cheese), Vitello Tonnato (veal loin with tuna sauce), Arancini Catanesi (Sicilian rice balls), Parmigiana di Melanzane (eggplant parmigiana), Maccheroni alla Norma (pasta with eggplant in tomato sauce), Spaghetti al Nero di Seppia (pasta with black squid ink sauce), and Bucatini Cacio e Pepe (pasta with cheese and black pepper).
