These light, coconut pancakes are the perfect vehicle for a rich sauce
Not only is this drink a pleasant, refreshing, perfectly sweet yet light milkshake, but it also changed my view of cantaloupe entirely! This Indian cantaloupe milkshake shocked me in the best way, and I hope you’ll try it and have your world turned upside down, too!
I know what you’re thinking: Cantaloupe is the last fruit left on a platter at any given gathering. Everyone opts for strawberries, mangos, grapes, and much more commonly enjoyed fruits. However, hear me when I tell you that this cantaloupe milkshake is to die for! I received this recipe from Aditi in Bangalore, India, and I am so grateful to her for sharing this beloved Indian delicacy. She tells us that cantaloupe, or muskmelon, as it’s known in India, is available in abundance while in season. Aditi loves how creamy and sweet this unique drink is, and her hope is that your opinion on cantaloupe will change once you try her cantaloupe milkshake recipe.
Well, mission accomplished, Aditi! I view cantaloupe in a new light, and it’s all thanks to this milkshake. There are so many flavors a cantaloupe has to compete with when it comes to delicious milkshakes. Yet, this overshadowed fruit holds its own in this recipe. It is dangerously easy to blend cantaloupe, vanilla ice cream, cardamom powder, sugar, and milk; it takes mere minutes, so you can bet I’ll make this drink often throughout the hotter months.
The cardamom helps round out the flavor, distinguishing it from your typical sweet milkshake. In addition, the cantaloupe leans into the sweetness, creating this beautifully full yet light sweet treat. Next time I’m in India, I’ll pick up an authentic cantaloupe milkshake. However, I’m not sure it could be much better than Aditi’s recipe–that would be hard to beat! When you make this milkshake, let me know if your opinion on cantaloupe is forever changed or if you’ll still pick around it at parties. (I have a feeling the former is more likely!)
