Tequeños

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour (you could also use crescent roll dough)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 6 tbsp Cold Butter cubed
  • 6 tbsp Ice Cold Water
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 12 oz Queso Blano cut into strips
  • Oil for Frying

Instructions

  • To make the dough, add flour and salt to a food processor and add the cold butter while pulsing unti dough looks like little pea-sized clumps
  • Add in egg and water. Dough should form a nice mound, add more water if needed. Wrap in plastic wrap and put in fridge for 30 min.
ALTERNATELY: I think you can use Pillsbury crescent roll and just skip to the wrapping stage.
  • Roll out dough when cold on a floured surface into a square and cut into stips a little less than 1-inch.
  • Take the cheese and wrap it on the diagonal, overlapping dough. Like a mummy wrap.
  • Heat oil in cast iron skillet, fry cheese sticks on all sides
  • Remove when golden brown and serve with your favorite dipping sauce!
